Arthur Machen
Posted on: Tuesday, May 04, 2010
I was recently very pleased to be asked to write the Foreward to the new Library of Wales edition of Arthur Machen's THE HILL OF DREAMS, to be published this spring by Parthian Books. Machen was a 19th century writer of the strange and macabre, and was brilliant at evoking terror and subtle atmospheres. He set many of his stories in the Gwent countryside where he was born, as well as in Edwardian London. If you like highly disturbing stories look him up.
There will be an event at the Hay Festival on Friday 4th June to discuss The Hill of Dreams and Machen's other work.
